Mr H. C. Bisiliop. lately of the New Plynioaitili bninria of the National Bank of New Zealand, left by the Rarawa last night tio take up a position in the Auckland branch. Mr. S. Saunders will retire from the position of editor of the Lyttelton Times on June 13, when he will be succeeded by Mr. M. Reading. Mr. Edward Saunders, who has been associate-editor of tho paper during the past five years, will tako the position of chief of staff. I—Press Association.
Messrs A. H. Johnstone, chairman of the Western Taranaki Railway League, and B. Maxwell leave by the mail train for Wellington this morning, to confer with tho Minister of Public Works in connection with the drafting of the proposed Bill to enable settlers to build the Qpunakc-New Plymouth railway. Mr Eric Outfield, who has Ibeen for some six years on 'tihe stall' of Messrs Archibald Clark and Sons' New Plymouth branch, has severed his connection witih that firm, and will leave ior Sydinoy to-day. He iwas presented by his colleagues witih) a handsome travel ling bag, as a memento of his connection with tho firm.
An old and respected resident of Onehunga, Mr Geo. McQuay, died suddenly in bed on iMonday night, at his residence in Lower Queen Street. The deceased, who was 82 years of age, resided with his son-in-law, Mr Arthur C. G'odlin, and enjoyed good health until the last. He had been about as usual during the day. The late Mr McQuay came from tho north of Ireland in the early days and settled at Mangel'e, where lie carried on a dairy farm formally years, supplying- milk to Onehunga and district. He leaves a widow, two eons, and one daughter The news was received by cablegram the other day of the death of Mr I'. ,S. Henderson, who was a representative of the New Zealand Insurance Company in Buenos Aires. The cause of death was typhoid fever. Formerly, in the Auckland and New Plymouth offices of the company, Mr Henderson was very popular with his colleagues, and his death at the early age of 2-C years was quite unexpected. 'When in Xew Zealand he wag well known in athletic circles, taking a particular interest in rowing and yachting. His parents, Mr and Mrs G. Henderson, reside in Titiraugi road, New Lynn.
