PUBLIC? LIBRARY. I The annual Meeting of subscribers . to tilte Inglewood Public Library ia to be held on Friday next. The report congratulates subscribers on the continued prosperity of the institution. It then continues:— "T-he number of subscribers on the roll is 90, and about 50 free members in tilie State school section. Unfortunately an order of forty vjdlumcs for the latter section has been unavoidably delayed, but t'he Hooks are now coming to liand. The total numcbr of boks aidded to the Library during, the year was most of them .'being novels, for | which there is a constant demand, but a considerable number of books on Ills- . tory, science, travels, awl philosophy have abo been iiraluded in the year's purcliaiw. The Government grant, amounting to flB 14s lid, lias been re- , ceived, and as the Education Department recommends .that it should be expended on works of a permanent value, the Oouiiriitteo has decided to purchase the Dictionary of National Bibgrapfiiy, which will constitute a gresit improvement to the Reference Library." Special mention is made of the work of tihe Librarian, Miss Newlancf, and tlianku exiwcssed to a number of newspaper proprietors for free copies of their publication*.
