Phelan (Auckland), and G. Parrobt (New Plymouth). The Council ojiens in the Borough Chambers at 10 mm. to-day. The application ia for a new award, no award a-t present existing in this district. The claims are based very imu>h on L'he recent claims made by the North • Auckland Timber Workers Union, which was adjudicated upon at the last Bitting of the Arbitration Court in Auckland, resulting in a mibetantial increase in the minimum wage. No alteration is asked for in the matter of hours, but improved conditions are sought for.
