NEW PLYMOUTH TIMBER WORKBKS Mr T. Harle Gile% Conciliation Ootammsioner for the Northern and Taranaki industrial districts, arrived by the mail team on Saturday night for tie purpose of hearing an industrial dispute Between the New Plymouth Timber Workers Union and the New Plymouth Saah and Door Company, Henry Brown and 'Company and oUicts. The assessors f or the employers are Messrs J. Austin (New Plymouth Sadh ;ui<l Door Coy.), (Hdiwera) and A. Morton (Kgmont Box Ooy.), and for the cmployeoa Mosers F. J. Lyons (Wellington), E. Phelan (Auckland), and G. Parrobt (New Plymouth). The Council ojiens in the Borough Chambers at 10 mm. to-day. The application ia for a new award, no award a-t present existing in this district. The claims are based very imu>h on L'he recent claims made by the North • Auckland Timber Workers Union, which was adjudicated upon at the last Bitting of the Arbitration Court in Auckland, resulting in a mibetantial increase in the minimum wage. No alteration is asked for in the matter of hours, but improved conditions are sought for.
