(To tlie Editor.) Sir. —I would ask a few iines apace in connection wiuh the recent carruviti quaen compotiitikm. Your readers will no douibt remember that when this competition. was lirst iniMated the general impression was that there would to a £2O trousseau presented to the carnival queen. Ah, well, the competition ih ovier, and the "Country Girl" has won, and just recently 'the band committee 'held a wind-up social for "the workers"! Ask your readers and the Band (.Committee specially to mark the words "The workers," and consider Blow many of the committee who worked 1 for the "Country ■Girl" received an invitation for this iioSial. At -this meeting, or social, I should siy, the queen was presented with a wristlet watdli and, of course, the dtess worn by iher at the crowning has been left with her. Now, Mr Editor, I think the country subscribere to this bund competition would be 1 glad to knu'w whether the queen's# dress did cost f!) ss, and whether the wri-itlet watch d'id cost £lO 15s. I take it the committee are ntot going to charge any ' part of the expenses of the wind-up social against the "Country Girl's" £3O.
