TOWN WATER SUPPLY.
CARETAKER'S REPORT. IMPROVEMENTS WANTED. The question of the water supply of the borough of New Plymouth was adjoin briefly discussed at tiho meeting of the Borough Council ]ast night. The caretaker of the waterworks (Mr S. Hooker)! reported that everything at tihe works was working satisfactorily. During his absence on holiday in the early part of last month, there were complaints about unfiltored water going into fclio reservoir, and so into the town, lie reminded the council that when Mr Kendall was borough engineer 'he reported to him twice during 1909 that the two .filters eioluld not keep the supply up, anil lw -would have to take other means to do so. As he had had no reply to his report, lie had teen obliged to use his "ira discretion, and use unfilteved wativr. People often obtained access to the filters without asking permission, and anvone could turn off the valves without his knowledge. He thought this should be remedied. Tt was decided to put up a notice warning people against interfering with j the filters.
