SPEECH BY SIR GEORGE REID. AN IMPERIAL PARLIAMENT IMPRACTICABLE. Times and Sydney Sun Services. Received 25, 5.45 p.m. London, May 25. Sir George Raid, speaking at the Y.M.C.A. on Empire Day, said that Britishers would never become a republic so long as they had sovereigns like the last three, but would immediately beI come a republic if the Georges of the future were like the Georges of the past. He regarded the British Navy as the sole factor in keeping the wardogs in their kennels. Chaos would result if an Imperial Parliament were constituted now, because 360 millions of many-tongued colored subjects of tihe King would not be represented. But later, after the grand task of their upliftment had been accomplished, it would be practicable, with full Empire representation.
