The death is announced by a London cable of Sir Francis La-king, Bart.'

His Honor Mr Justice Edwards will leave New Plymouth for Wanganui today. Mr. S. A. Staples, of Ohriatchurch, chairman of the Waimiro County Council, accompanied by Mis. Staples, is on a visit to New Plymouth. Mr If. B. Billing, of Messrs We.*ton, Weston and Billing, was admitted on Thursday by Mr Justice 13dwards as a barrister of the Supreme Court. Mr R. Fletcher, chairman of the WelMnton Harbor Board, who contested the Wellington Central seat Mr F. M. B. Fisher' at the last election, announces himself definitely as a candidate for the same scat at next election.— Press telegram.

A Wellington Press message states that Mr Bobt. Lee presided' yesterday for the last time as chairman iotf the Wellington Education Board, a position which he has held for several years. It is forty years since Mr Lee was first associated with education in Wellington as inspector of district school* The members made eulogistic references to Mr Lee's services, and he was presented with an illuminated address and a purse of sovereigns.
