In the third round 1 Hilton beat Harris by 2 and 1, Haywood feat Lockwiood by 2 andi 1, Evans beat E. Scott by 3 and 2, Carr beat Worthington at the 10th hole, Bead beat A. Hambro 1 up, tie Hon. F. S. Jackson (the well-known cricketer) beat Renwiok at the 19th 'hole, Lockart beat Whitton, by fl and 5 Blackwell; heat Walker' by 6 and 4 Graham beat E. Smith by 4 and 3, the Hon. Michael Soott beat Herreshoff, 1 up, Captain Hambro beat Ball at the 19th hole, Stubbs (of Littlestone) beat Ouimet, 2 mp, Gillies beat Weaver by 7 and 6, Tubbs beat Howe by 3 and 1, Captain Hutchinson beat Aylmer by 3 and 2, MacfaTlane beat W. Murray by 3 and 1, Weber beat Marriot 2 up, Apperley beat Ferguson by 4 and 3. ffubbs, who has played' little competitive golf lately, played an excellent game to within the last few holes. H« developed nerves towards the close, but I steadied at the 17th. Ouimet played slaekly, and diid* not seem to hit hard enough. There was a great ovation as Stubbs scrambled home. I
Bajl and Hambro kept together nil the way. Ball was one up at the ttfrn, but Hambro squared at the fourteenth. Lockart was four up at the tarn, and dormy two, but Whitton won the last two, squaring the match; subsequently, after a half at the 19th, he lost the 20th.
The Hon. Michael Scott went out in 38, and turned 1 three up. Herreshoff, when four down and' five to play, won the next flour, but his approach to the last hole was top strong, and Scott got down in four to five and won. Tomorrow Gillies meets Graham. Both are strong favorites. Received 21, 10.35 p.m. 'London, May, 21. Whitton was easily defeated. His putting was indifferent. He was -repeatedly as well placed as Lockart, hut he missed short putts.
INGLffiWOOD DEFEAT WITCOBA. At the Witiora links yesterday in cold and -wet weather, a team from the Inglewood Club defeated! the Witiora Club, by one game, winning flour games, losing three, and halving two. The local team played two or three substitutes. The games resulted a» follows, Witiora players being mentioned first:
'Haslam lost to Gudgeon, 4 up and 2. Medley beat Thomson, 3 up and 1. Paton beat Brown, 3 up and 2. Drew with Hogg. Smart halved with Surrey.
Standish lost to Marshall, 3 up and 2. •McQuade beat O'Carroll, 3 up and 2. Gilmwir lost to PatteTson, 2 up and 1. J. Johnson lost to Bullard, 5 up and 4.
On Thursdaj' next Witiora will play a match, 18 a side, against New Plymouth, at the Witiora links. NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB.
