NEW STEAMSHIP SERVICE.
NORDDEUTSCHER LINE EXTENDS TO NEW ZEALAND.

According to the Shipbuilding and Shipping Record, at the Kaiser's instance Dr. von Bethmann-Holiwcg has secured a promise Irora leading members of the Reichstag to grant half a million for the Norddeutocher Lloyd Shipping Company's Australian service. The company proposes to extend the service to New Zealand, and is arranging with a New Zealand steamship company for a joint fortnightly 6crvice.
FAVORED BY GERMAN CONSUL. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The German Consul states that lie has repeatedly urged this direct service. Already Germany's trade with the Dominion exceeds the total of all the other Continental countries put together, and with direct steamer communication it should be doubled or trebled in a very few years.
