After providing for a number of private legacies, the late Mrs. Annie Townsend left the following amounts, to public institutions:—lo,ooo for the relief of distressed gentlewomen; £SOOO to the Church Property Trustees, for clergymen with stipends under £.IOO a year; £SOOO for the-Cruelty Prevention (Society in the Isle of Man; £IO,OOO to the ChristchureU .Society for the Prevention of Crnelty to Animate; £4OOO to the Children's Convalescent Cottage, New Brighton; £IOOO to Dr. Barnado's Home; £IOOO to the Cashmere Hills Sanatorium; and lesser amounts to the Salvation Arm«\ Horticultural Society, the District Nursing Fund, and Prison Gate Mission.
