INGLEWOOD NEWS.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) The Borough Council is making progress with loan works. The formation, etc., of Oavrington street is now in hand, also the kerbing and channelling of Standish street. This latter w»rk is badly needed, owing to the footpath being continually trodden away by stock being driven to the local saleyards. Another two months should see the arrival of the new roller and crushing plant. This should bo a boon to the town, <iß there will then he no excuse for bad roads. Wandering stock has been a great source of annoyance to the public for some time, but the recent appointment of \Mr, Geo. Burrows as ranger and poundkeeper has had the desired effect, and .the town is now free from the I nuisance.
Tho Inglcwood branch of the Liberal !' League is making splendid headway, the 11 attendance at the monthly meetings c being most gratifying. If the other P branches are doing the same, the Go- . vernment candidate will not. have an s easy fight at the coining election. The P question that worries the local League ® is, who is going to stand in the Liberal J interest? Surely Now Plymouth can ffnd a. suitable man. Time in flying, so that tlie sooner one is chosen tlie better. The local seniors played their first Rugby match of the season on Saturday against Stratford, and suffered defeat by 14 to nil. Owing to the weather good football was out of the question, but Inglewood will want to have a few ( practice games together if they wish to . meet with any success. Stratford < played well togethev and well deserved , their win. The wonder is that tliev ' never doubled their score. j
