They stripped her iu the street, soaked hor clothes in the tar, and made a bonfire of them, lind escaped. The suffragette took refuge in a cottage, where she borrowed some clothes. Birmingham- students, revenging the recent outrages on golf courses and the cricket pavilion, visited the suffragette headquarters, smashed up furniture and picture, apologised, and departed.
