Mrs Mary Ann Dickinson, relict of ■ tli« late Mr H. A. Dickinson, a wellknown Midhirst resident, died at Ilawera on Wednesday at the residence of her son-in-law. The members of the East End Bathing Reserve Committee have presented Mrs. Monk with a handbag, suitably engraved, us an appreciation of her services in connection with the dmcing classes licit! in the pavilion last ivinicr. Mr Joseph PfalY, one of the pioneers of the West (.'oast, died at Kumara on Monday at the age of eighty-one. lie was horn in Carlsnthe, Baden, Germany, and came to New Zealand sixty years ago. Since 1870, he has resided at Kumara. It is stated that Mr and Mrs Philip Snowdon have ben engaged in connection with the coming no-license campaign in New Zealand, and that they will arrive in September. Mr. Snowdon is Socialist member for Blackburn in the Houso of Commons, and is one of the principal Socialist leaders of the -.lay, and a great worker in the cause of temperance.
