The conference alsi| expressed Hie opinion that the course adopted in collecting funds to support those in trouble and refusing to call out the shearers and shed hands to engage in a general strike was right. The (|iiestion of amalgamating with tlie Australian Workers' Union was discussed at length, and it was decided to seek information from the Labor Department in connection with this matter, also relative to the joining of the Rural Workers' Union and the Shearers' Association. After a discussion in committee, it was moved that (he i|iiestion of contract shearing be left in abeyance until such times as the position of the Xcw Zealand Shearers' Association in regard to the Australian Workers.' Union had been clearly defined. The open conference debate on this was adjourned.
