THE NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. The New Plymouth Club brought a most successful season to a very enjoy - ablo closo yesterday afternoon, in perfect weather conditions for May. The very wet weather experienced of late, which, by the way, had, caußed a week's adjournment of the closing games, had made the green on the heavy side, hut still it played well. There was a very good attendance .of members, and several ladies watched the games, besides adding greatly to the enjoyment of the howlers by dispensing an excellent afternoon tea Teams were picked by the president and vice-pre-sident, and the hitter's team won by 80 points to 70. r During the iiftfviio:;n tea adjournment Mr Pcnn, the club's ;Tt;>.-»dent, presented the prizes won during the season. He inent'onod that ihe club had had a most successful m'Rsom, coming through its list of engagements without sustaining a single loss. After a brief review ho eongratulated the winners of the seay;!'.'s trophies, and at the eonelusion i.f the function cheers were given for the winners, for the president, for the donor.; of trophies, and for the ladies.
Tho winners of tlit* trophies were: Challenge ('tip. an'! accompanying prize of a fine aneroid. A. K. Smart; 'handicap singles h set of silver-mounted bowls, presented liy Mr A. H. Goss), W. Luscombe; handicap pairs, A. K. Smart and H. Fookes.
