The new arrangementsi in connection with the display of newspapers in the public reading room are a great conveniaice to readers, and considerably improve the appearance of the room. There were slaughtered at the borough abattoirs last month 70 cows, 30 heifers, ] 4 calves, 313 sheep, 51 lambs, 58 pigs I and 10 oxen, 58 tripes being prepared The fees amounted to £7B 14s (kl. A meeting of the committee appoint>ed to procure information bearing upon the proposed Producers' Meat Freezing Works was held yesterday, Mr. J. McCluggage presiding.
