Hollowing is Mr Bates's summary for the past 24 hours :■—' Anti-cyclonic ,conditions have ruled to tbe southwards,, but stormy,weather with high south-easterly winds and a Steadily falling, barometer have prevailed is and northward of Cook strait. Forecast.—Present indications are for heavy rain on the east coast of the North Island, and cold and showery conditions generally, with Btrong southeasterly winds northward of Farewell Spit and Christchurch; east to northeasterly winds, and fair to cloudy weatker elsewhere; barometer rising soon ia the north, but probalby falling in We south.
