This I'is smaller than the previous year's, but the weather was inclement, and there have been inany calls recently on public generosity.
CHARGE OF MANSLAUGHTER. Waipawa, Yesterday. Edward George M'Roberis, charged with the manslaughter of Jno. Adams, was remanded until the 15th inst. Bail was allowed, self and- two securities of £IOO each. During an altercation M'Robertß struck Adams, and in falling he atruck his head against a door, and died in the hospital without regaining consciousness
NATIONAL SCHOOLS LEAGUE. Wellington, Yesterday. The Rer. T. A. Williams, of Christchurch, has intimated to the executive his acceptance of the position'of organiser for the New Zealand 'National Schools League. The executive has issued as a manifesto the document which has already been sent as an open letter to members of Parliament.
