Wellington, Last Night Rugby players on Saturday had a day off from the championship contest, owing to the military camp at Takapau thinning their jrankß. Sixteen teams entered, however, for a seven-a-side tourney, the semi-finals in which were: Wellington beat University, s—o; Poaeke A beat St. James, 6—o. The final resulted in Wellington heating Ponekc by 8 points to nil. THE ASSOCIATION GAME. In the Soccer code, first division, the results wore: Thist.'e drew with Mo.-;pi tul, 2—2; Diamonds bent Kuvcrs, 4—u: Corinthians drew with Wwifts, no seme. The Pctone v. Wanderers match was postponed, the ground being too sodden
LEAGUE MATCHES. Suburbs beat Petonc, 28—10; Newtown bent Athletic, 33&10. THE REFEREE QUESTION. Wanganui, -Lust Night. A meeting of the. Wnnganui Rugby Union on Saturday discussed the question of referee appointments. It was decided to do away with the mutual agreement system, which was in force last year, and to substitute an appointment board, consisting of representatives of the players, the referees' association, and the management committee, the lastnamed to have had no pant or present connection with the referees' association.
