OPPOSITION IX WAIKARAPA. By Telegraph—Press Association. Carterton, Yesterday. There were 100 householders prc.-cnt at the annual meeting of householders and all candidates were asked their attitude towards the Biblc-in-Schools movement. All declared n'/e.inst it. Th ■ following were elected:—J. G. Moore (chairman), R. J. C. Chapman (secretary and treasurer), 3. Harp. J. M. NicholU, J. Stevens and 1). Rcid. , The following resolution was passed: —"That this representative meeting of householders, being satisfied with the present system of free, secular and compulsory education obtaining in the Do minion, hereby pledge-' itself to resist nnv interference therewith and that a copy of the resolution be forwarded to the Minister of Education." This was carried with applause, there being one dissentient, a Salvationist.," At Belvedere the meeting carried a similar resolution. The committee elected was:— E. Eagle, i mr. (chairman), M. J. At Ibe householders' meeting here, during a discussion on the Biblc-in-Schools question, the headmaster of the District High School, also the assistant master stronglv opposed the introduction of the Bible in the schools, fearing it would lead to denominational coachr>.-. They commended the present secular system.
