Horatio Bottomley and Julius EliaS, representing the printers, 'have been summoned for an artiele in John Bull containing a proposal and schemes of tickets for lotteries run in Switzerland, called the Grand National Sweepstake and the John Bull Derby Sweep. In each case a certain sum was promised to charities. Bottomley contended that the article constituted a legitimate newspaper controversy. The ease has been adjourned.

Calmette, found lm pocket-book pierced by two shotß and inside were two telegrams. He gave them to M. Poincare in order that they should not be made public. M. Haletzky, who was accused of killing a number of girls and burying them in a forest, has been sentenced to death. WIRELESS TELEPHONY. London, May 6. A successful demonstration of witless telephony was given at Marconi's house. The Italian navy is installing the mechanism on its ships, and oth-r I admiralties are inclined to adopt the I system. It is simple, and the call is as easy as on an ordinary telephone.
