Mr W. G. Williams leaves to-day on a trip to Wellington. Inspector Wilson, of the police force returned from Mokau last night t» New Plymouth.

Mr A. T. Christensen, chairman of the Patea Harbor Board, has left on a trip to the Old Country. Prior to leaving he was presented by his Patea friends with a pipe and tobacco pouch.

Mr and Mrs Lodge left New Plymouth for Auckland on Tuesday night. Mr Lodge is taking up a position in' the Newton branch of the National Bank of New Zealand. ,

Mrs F. M. Paulsen, late proprietress of the Terminus Hotel, has sold her interest in that establishment to Mr S. Ridgley, and lias left for an extended trip to Sydney and Melbourne. The death is announced this morning of Mr Bert Knuckey, son of Mr. and Mrs Knuckey, of Waitara, at the age of 23½ years. The deceased, who has never been very robust, passed away at the home of his parents yesterday. It is understood that there is a likelihood that Mr. W. , Scott, who has occupied the position of employers' repii'sentativc on the Arbitration Court lor scvenil y,;irs. will retire fro,,, the positionwit the end of the year.—l'ress Association.

Kaptisfc missionary oil the India field, arrived in town by last night's express. Mr White has been working with Dr. Pettit, of the .New Zealand Baptist Mission, He will preside at the local Tabernacle on Sunday, and speak at the Brotherhood in the afternoon. His is staying with Mr. >». T. Maunder.
