DISTRICT NEWS.

■WARKA. ! (From Our Own Correspondent). A complimentary dance was given by the factory employees to the suppliers on Wednesday night and was a huge success, there being over fifty couples present. Mr. Clothier, one of the oldest residents in the district, in returning thanks to the employees on behalf of the suppliers, stated that it had been one of the most enjoyable socials ever held in the Warca Hall. The music was supplied by Mr. It. Barnett, and songs were given by Miss J. (Jassie and Messrs T. Carey and V. Gable, and a sword dance by Mr. Taylor. The M'n.C, Messrs. A. Rooks and* P. Taylor, kept thing's moving merrily till about 2.30 a.m.

I am glad to sec that the Parihaka Road Board has got Surfaceman M. Hill and his staff busy patching the Warca and Newall roads. The roads were getting very bad.with the recent wet weather, and! the heavy) timber waggon making a trip nearly every day soon finds out the weak places. The building trade is very busy at present here. Our local storekeeper lias just had a new grain store erected, and our timber yardman has started erecting a residence on the Warea road, and I hear the 'boys are already getting a good supply of kerosene and benzine tins ready for the opening of the residence.
