At Waiwakiiilio Yards on Friday, 24th ult. T had a full yarding of cattle with sevor,al pens of sheep. Competition throughout was good, especially for the .sheep, all of these being sold at the ■hammer. Stratford Yards, for my fortnightly sale, 1 had a verv ihcavv entry, fully 2000 head of cattle'and about 1800 sheep being penned. There was a very representative attendance of buyers from all parts of the district, making good competition for most lines. All the sheep oil'ered were cleared either at tilt; hammer .or privately. T had a good enquiry for young cows for the back country. There appears to be quite an improved tone on the weaner heifer market, as F was able to sell several hundred head of llie.se. Weaner -steers, were net. yarded in big numbers, and the majority were only fair sorts, but notwithstanding, sold very readily, flood condition)-* cows cased a little, and vendors must remember now that feed is shortening. On Thursday, ait Ornata for Mr A. Matthews' clearing sale, there was_ a large attendance and keen competition throughout. The best daily cows sold at from £6 to £B, other, £4 15s to £5 10s; empty cow, £3 4s fid; bull, £3 15s; springing heifers, £6 10s to £6 17s 6d; breeding sows, £2 2s fid to £3 2s fid; goats, 14s; fat lambs-, lfis Od; slip pigs, 10s to lis.
