PERSONAL NEWS. Mrs. A. C. Fookes, who has been on a visit to Inglewood, has returned. x Mrs. Henry Peake and Mrs. NolanJones (Wanganui), who have been here for some weeks, return next Tuesday. Mi's. Quilliam paid a short visit to New Plymouth, last week. She is now the guest of her daughter, Mrs. Leo. Horrucks, Feilding. Mr. and Mrs. Pat Fitzherbert, who have been staying in New Plymouth for some time, leave for Auckland next weok. Mrs. A. 11. Colvilc leaves next Tuesday on a visit to Feilding and Otaki. Miss K. Hamerton, who lias been on a visit to Wellington, has returned. Dr. and Mrs. Allan, who have been the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Newton King, returned to Dunedin yesterday morning. Miss Sylvia Bayly, who has been visiting Auckland for the last ten weeks, returned :home yesterday by the s.s. Rarawa. Miss Flossie Evans, who has been residing witli her. sister, Mrs. Bertram (Rotorua) . for some months, has returned home to prepare for her wedding, which is to take place on May 14th. Mrs. Parsons, of Wanganui, arrives by to-night's mail train and will be the guest of her daughter, Mrs. J. Glenn. Mrs. Jus. Wilson, who has been on a visit to Wellington, has returned. Misses A-. Wilson and V. Simpson, who have been visiting friends in the Wairarapa district, have returned. * SOCIAL FUNCTIONS. Miss Saxton gave a little farewell card party to Dr. and Mrs. Allan last Wednesday evening, and the prizes were won by Miss Doris Fitzherbert • and Miss G. Kyngdon. Amongst those present were: Mrs. Saxton, Misses Saxton (2), Mrs. Allan, Misses Fitzherbert (2), Matthews (2), Kyngdon (2), Whitcombe, D. Simpson, S. Thomaon,,and Messrs. Matthews (2), Simpson, King (3), Gray, Blpxani, W.hiteombe, and Dr. Allan. Mrs. Home, ' wishing to bid farewell to her many friends, before leasing . ony:a> trip to England, \ has issued invitations for several social functions, which are to eventuate during, the present week. The first was an "aft'el'ilboii tea, which took place .last Wea'nc!sua'y at her hbmein Vivian street. The'.'floral'decorations were greatly ad-, mired, the hall, dining and drawing-room, being massed with yeliow chrysanthemums, holly berries and autumn leaves; During the afternoon soligs and musical items were rendered by Mrs. Home, Miss Wade, Miss Mildred Thomson, Miss Beryl Hirst, and Miss Armstrong.
DANCE. - Last Wednesday, in the Good Templars' Hall, a dance was held in honor of Miss Annie Hawke, the sportsmen's candidate in the recent Carnival Queen Competition. Evterj-tone who .attended spent a thoroughly enjoyable time. The supper table was prettily decorated with shaded chrysanthemums, the handiwork cf Miss W. Bennett. Among those pra ; sent were:—

Mrs. Paul wore black crepe de chine, corsage trimmed with blue and pink embroideries.
, Mrs. Bennett (Blenheim), vieux rose charmeuse prettily beaded. Miss Mackay, white muslin. Miss 0. Mackay, shot green taffetas. Miss Hogg, white 'muslin, pink floral sash.

Mis 3 M. Jones, cream voile, with vieux rose ribbon sash.
Mrs. Flower, silk satin, real lace berthe.

Miss M. Berry, pale pink silk. Miss K. Berry wore pale pink silk, veiled with pale blue ninon. Miss T. Gilbert, pale pink muslin. Miss V. Gilbert, ciel blue satin, lightened with tiny pink roses. Miss Tiplady, navy blue silk. Miss M. Tiplady wore canary coloured silk. Miss M. Stohr, white silk, with corsage trimmed with swansdown. Miss Aitken, white satin, with ninou tunic. Miss Oliver, pale blue flowered voile. Miss E. Johnston, white muslin.
