A RESCUER DROWNED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Foxton, Friday. A drowning accident happened about 11 o'clock this'morning. A lad named Morgan fell into the river opposite the New Zealand Shippiiig Company's shed. W. Teviotdale, an employee of tlus Shipping Company, went in and seized tho lad and struggled against the strong current. Edwards, a fellowemployee, went to the rescue of the others and a boat was put out. Tho lad and Edwards managed to grasp the, boat, but Teviotdale sank. His body, was recovered after a lapse of ten minutes,
A CADET'S SUDDEN DEATH. Invercargill, Friday. At the coroner's enquiry into the death of Thomas McDermid, who dropped dead after the parade of senior cadets before General' Sir lan Hamilton on Monday, medical evidence was given to the effect that the aortic valve was diseased to an extreme degree, representing a particular form of iheart disease in which, sudden death often occurred. Such a disease was very rare in a youth, of seventeen. The verdict was in -accordance with the medical evidence.
DEATH FROM HEART DISEASE. -ir ' '\ \ Marton, Friday. Thomas Hall, aged 52, a bootmaker, died suddenly in bed at 2 o'clock this morning from heart disease. Deceased was at his usual occupation till 0 o'clook last night.
A FIRKMAVS DEATH. Wangunui, Friday. At the adjourned inquest on John Winters, a fireman on the Putiki, who was found drowned on April 11, the. verdict waa that there was no evidence to show how deceased lost his life. FATAL TRAP ACCIDENT. Tiinaru, A farmer, named Thomas Douglas, was driving home from Pleasant Point last night, when his trap capsized on Vague's Hill. Douglas was killed.
