The New Plymouth East End Flying Club opened their young bird season l;i.>t Saturday with'a race from Waverley, a distance of 58 miles, the weather beinj>moat unpropitious. The*birds were cm the wing for nearly three hours. The following birds secured places:—W. Beal's "Poppy," '2hrs Sonlin.; H. Moverley's "Country Girl," 2hrs. 55min. 30sec.; James Bros.' "Expect," 2hrs. sGmin, 5u sec.; V. E. Billing's "Sinapis," 2hrs. 53 min.
