Demonstrators against Mr. Rockefeller's attitude in tlie Colorado incident were arrested, after a demonstration outside the office of Mr. Rockefeller, junr. Those arrested included Upton Sinclair, his wife and children, and Elizabeth Freeman, an English suffragette. Socialists arranged a parade in front of the offices wearing signs of mourning, but the police intervened.

Seven were killed when the strikers attacked the mines in the neighborhood of the Forbes mine. A building was burned, and two charred bodies found in it.

Received 30, 10.30 p.m. Washington, April 30. Under a truce agreement, fighting lias stopped at Denver, over six hundred strikers laying down their arms. The men are being detained in custody and charged with murder. The Federal troops are expected immediately, when it is probable that peace will be restored. The town of Walzenburg lias withstood what was practically a siege. Women and children were imperilled when mine guards and the strikers fought for hours, the bullets whistling overhead in the streets.

A special session of the State Leg;slature has been called to deal with the situation.
