Mr. and Mrs. N. Greiner, of New Plymouth, will leave on Tuesday next on a. seven months' trip to EnjfLasß. The Rev. Father Moore, who recently arrived from England, has been appointed assistant priest at New Plymouth. Mr. E. T. Holden has been appointed town clerk during the temporary absence of Mr. F. T. Bellringer, who left this morning to attend the Terrritorial camp at Takapau. J| At the annual meeting of the Acclimatisation Cociety last night, a vote ■ of thanks was accorded to Mr. 11. Okey, M.P., for his efforts in obtaining a Go* vcrnment grant to the Society.
A telegram received last night from the Waipukurau hospital stated that Rifleman Harold Lobb, is suffering from severe colic, not appendicitis, as stated in the Press Association message, Mr. C. 0 Brien lias arrived from Lyttelton to take the. position of principal warder in the New Plymouth gaol in place of Mr. T. Reid, who has been appointed to a position in the Dunedin gaol.
Mr. G. Raymond, K.C., has accepted the appointment of Crown Prosecutor at Ohristchureh, but will not assume his new duties until some time in May, aftcr the next criminal sittings.—Press Association.
