DISTRICT NEWS.
WAREA. The dance held recently in aid of the Public Library funds was unfortunate in striking a wet night. There was in consequence a small gathering. The factory hands of the local factory and creamery are giving a social to the shareholders before closing the season. The dance will be held on Wednesday night.
The local Sports Club held a meeting recently to settle up the last annual sports. The rough balance-sheet showed a credit balance of a few shillings, but a few small accounts have yet to come in. The club decided to hold a plain and fancy dress ball on June 10 next in aid of its funds.
The Egmont County Council are progressing with the metalling of this end of the country. Mr. Ilickcy has completed his contracts, and Mr. Tait hag commenced his pit metal contract.
