SIR IAN HAMILTON.
PLEASED WITH THE TROOPS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, Tuesday. General Sir lan- Hamilton, accompanied by General Godley and the Hon. James Allen, this morning reviewed tho cadets, the national reserve, and the Garrison Artillery in the presence of about 6000 spectators. The weather was good. Sir lan Hamilton' expressed himself highly pleased with the steadiness and appearance of the ranks, lie naked men to consider for themselvesthe facts of history, as showing that it was necessary to be prepared for war in order to avoid War. General Hamilton afterwards left for Matarae camp. Dunedin, Last Night. After the inspection, General Hamilton was interviewed by the Daily Times' reporter. He declined to express an opinion on general topics, but complimented the men on their work. He •said: "The regimental attack was very intelligently carried out, and while no doubt it left some room for criticism, still, if there were no room for improvement, what would be the good of going into camp? I was particularly struck with the Army Service Corps and with the splendid way it was work'ing to get the whole show going . Of course, their work is the real business, because what they are doing in camp now is work exactly the same ,as they would have to perform under actual" service conditions. I was particularly impressed by their work." To-morrow will be the big day, when there will be a divisional attack, but what the exact programme is has not been divulged.
