Dresses displayed during the Royal visit showed that dark blue taffeta gowns, with long-waisted tunics aril long-waisted bodies, buttoned down t'ue front, were the most popular. It was noted that the, latest and very chic style is, to leave one or two buttons at the neck unfastened. Although the slit has gone, there is considerable transparency about the narrow skirts under long tunics, many of them being of striped muslin or chiffon, through which flower-patterned stockings arc plainly \ visible
