CHEAPER FREIGHTS.
ON DAIRY PRODUCE FOR AMERICA. SECURED BY MINISTER OP AGRICULTURE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. Freight rates, on dairy produce between Wellington and San Francisco and Auckland and Vancouver were referred to by the Prime Minister, who said that ho had arranged with the shipping companies for a very considerable reduction in the freight rates in question. The expiration of one of the contracts had given ihim an opportunity, as head of the Department of Agriculture, of revising the whole of the arrangements. He explained that he could not then go into details of the agreement arrived at, 'but >he need hardly tell producers that every farthing saved in this way mejnt a farthing more in their pockets. It is understood that, in addition to cheaper freights, the Minister has been able to arrange for a better class of vessel in these services.
