RAILWAY FREIGHTS.
AN ORGANISED PROTEST. By Telegraph—Press Association. V Auckland, Friday. The Council of the C'lKimiber of Commerce lias decided to support the Wellington Chamber in iCs protest against the action of the Railway Department in using freights for protective purposes. It was explained t'lint certain articles had Customs duty imposed ou them, and then had increased railway freight put upon them; the result being the pcnalishing, among others, of the .backblocks settlers.'
