WAITTRA WEST ROAD BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING.
At the monlh'y meeting of tlic above Board there ree present: The Chairman (Mr. T. French), Messrs. Hall, Lepper, Surrey, iiiid Turnbiill. Correspond nice was read from Mr. \Y. .Crowe, statin;; that he would prefer Haskell .and Co. finishing the metal from old pit before they took any from tli« one by road for.their El.siiam Road contract; from a ratepayer, complaining of nuisance caused by wire gates on the Everett Road; and from Commissioner of Crown Lands, enquiring if sections 82/3 and 05 were at present used as a public pound.
Resolved that Messrs. Hollins and Baer be requested to remove the fences complained of on the Everett Road; also that Mr. Griffiths be asked to sell a small portion of his land which is required to widen the Richmond Road'. It was decided to lay tiho metal on Elsham Road !) inches deep, as this was considered sufficient for the small amount of traffic.
The Chairman reported that R. Tait had finished grading the Tait Road, and that some metal was required at the end of this road, which Mr. 0. Tait had offered to cart free, provided the Board allowed their surfaceman to procure same.
Mr. J., Purdio requested that he be allowed to lower a culvert on the Pennington Road, which was damming the surface water back on his property. Granted, under the supervision of tlie surfaceman, provided ho keeps the water off the road.
Mr. Lepper was authorised to arrange with Mr. W. D. Cartwriglit to do the grading required on district roads. It was decided to hold a special meeting to consider tlie question of erecting cottages for the surfacemen.
Accounts amounting to £lO2 were passed for payment.
