LADY RANDOLP uJJRCHILL. ! The Divorce Court, it was cabled recently, has granted Lady Randolph Churchill a, decree absolute from her second husband, Mr. Cenrge CornwallisWest, on the ground of the hitter's misconduct and desertion. The same afternoon Mr. Comwallis-West married Mrs. Patrick Campbell, the well-known ac-tress-manager. Nobody except the witnesses attended the ceremony. Lady Randolph Churchill is 20 years older than Mr. Comwallis-West, who is the only son of Colonel Cornwallis-Wcst, a brother of Princess Pless and the Duchess of Westminster. Society opened its eyes in 1900, when the fascinating widow of the late Lord Ranholph Churchill, after wearing the weeds for rive years, married Mr. CornwallisWcst. Her son—the present First Lord of the Admiralty, Mr. Churchill—was some months the senior of liis step- ; father. The marriage was one of the weddings of the year in high society. Some months ago, the tongue of rumour began to 'wag about the CormvallisWest household, but the first public announcement came in March, 1913, when Mrs. Cornwallis-West sued for, and obtained, restitution of conjugal rights. A decree nisi followed in July, when Mrs. Oornwallis-West resumed her former name. She is the daughter of the late Mr. Leonard .Terome. of New York, and as Lady Randolph Churchill took London by storm. During the years when her husband was at the height of his fajjne, her house was the. most sought-after social centre in London.
Mrs. Patrick Campbell is now 45 years of age, and her husband nearly 10 years younger.
