BERNARD'S PICTURES Nick Winter is always a great favorite with picture patrons, and this was conclusively proved last night. The thrilling plot and effective situations were grand works of art. "Fiancee and the Fairy", is another attractive drama that no one should miss, while all the other films are enjoyable. The music also gives an added charm to the entertainment. TOWN HALL PICTURES. The current programme io proving very attractive, lieing one of the best of a remarkably good series. Kvery film is of great merit, and both the dramas and comics, are well above the average. GENERAL NEWS At the Stratford County Council meeting yesterday,. Mr. G. A. Marchant, an ex-county chairman, strongly urged the. ! Council to have a bridge rate over the ; North Riding, warning the Council that | they were faced with heavy expenditure for renewing bridges in the near future. Th Club Hotel will shortly change hands, the new lessee being Mr. W. . Lovett. A tally of the traffic on the East road was taken for a week last month, the figures showing that 39 motors went east and 29 west; 37 motor cycles east, 32 west; 25 four-wheeled vehicles east, 27 west; 137 two-wheled vehicles east, i 169 west; 83 horsemen east, 93 west; ; 373 cattle east, 74 west; 233 sheep east, ' 2260 west. , A fresh in <the river brought down sev- ] eral logs, which aro piled against the , railway bridge. , The result of the weight-judging com-' ] petition at the Stratford A. & P. The question of noxious weeds always evokes more or less feeling, but according to a statement made by t>.e chairman of the Stratford County Council yesterday, the element of neighborly spite is sometimes tu be reckoned witli. There may be something in the remark. A letter to the Stratford County Council seemed like a page out of old history. The writer, who was dairying, said that owing to Ihe small supply and cost of working he got only a " little over 7d out of Is per lb for butter-fat. Experience, lie said, was a dear scholar, adding that he had been completelv misled as to the state of things. The finances of the Stratford County Council are not flourishing. At yesterday's meeting the chairman " again brought this to the attention of councillors, stating that,there was only £5400 available for the rest of the year.
