ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
MOTOR-BUS FATALITY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Yesterday. William Burroughs, aged 24, a cheese factory assistant, whose paronts live in the Catlins district, Otago, died in the Grey town Hospital last night owing to .njuries sustained through being run over by a motor-bus while returning from Tiuiherenikuu races. His hat blew off in a high wind, and in tile endeavor to recover it lie was run over by a motor-bus.
A I*l REMAN MISSING. Wanganui, Last Night. John Winters, a fireman on the steamer l'utiki, has been missing Since Sunday morning. He "went to bed on Saturday night, but at 4 o'clock next morning it was found that ho had disappeared., clad only in his sleeping garments. lie is supposed to have gone into the river.
A NARROW ESCAPE. Hastings, Last Night. A lad named .hum Chapman, aged lfi, met with a gun neculent which might easily lmve had fatal results. While looking- for birds i.y a tree he rested the Jiutt of his gun on the ground, and on subsequently raising it the trigger caught on the buttons- of -his knickers, and' thp gun discharged. The bullet entered Chapman's left cheek, and came out his left eye xviuiout, however, injuring the sight.
TROI'BLE EOR THE TEAMSTER. Nelson, Last Night. At the inquest on Tom Newth, a motor cyelisit, who was killed at Springrove last night by collision with a horse ami dray, the Coroner returned a verdict that death resulted from collapse of the lungs through collision with a threehorso team driven by Robert Wallaca without lights on the vehicle, the deceased being on bis motor cycle on tile I proper side of the road, and with proper lights. t
