BIBLE IN SCHOOLS.
ORANGEMEN'S RESOLUTIONS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Hastings, Last Night. At the conference of the Grand Lodge of the Loyal Orange Institute of New Zealand, the following resolution was carried: "The Grand of the Loyal Orange Institute affirms its support of the Bible-in-Schools League as the only practical ..solution by which the Bible and its teaching can be restored to the people's schools. The Grand Lodge ajrain endorses the request for the referendum asked for by the Bible-m-State-Schoola League, and points out that any refusal on the part of Parliament to grant the referendum asked for in the name of a very large majority of the population would be an endorsement by Parliament of the extraordinary position laid down bv Roman Catholic opponents that a referendum should not be taken; in effect, the refusal of the referendum would be to accept the. taeory of the Roman Catholic. GlraiVh that the people are not allowed to settle their own affairs."
