(Note: Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are the average market (prices on- spot.) Mutton.—Dull of sale in all qualities, on account 1 of low prices. Chilled beef.—Prices have declined as the result of heavy arrivals. . Canterbury, 4%d per lb for light weights, heavy weights 4d; North Island 4%d, light weightß. , Lamb. —The demand is chiefly for light weight. There is dull sale for heavy carcases of lamb. Canterbury, twos, (>y 4 (l, heavy weights 5%d, other than Canterbury 'fid for light weights. Beef. —Tne market is very dull. New Zealand hinds- 4%d pe,r lb, fores 3%d, cnilled hinds 4%d, fores 3%d. Butter. —The mark,et is quiet. Danish per cwt 118s to 120s, New Zealand 104s to 108s, exceptionally choice, IOSs, Unsalted, supply limited 114s to 110s, Australian 1023 to 100s, Argentine 102s to 104s', Siberian 100s. Cheese. —The market is quiet. Steady prices for Canadian are nominal. Canadian white 68s t'o 70s, colored OAs to 71s, New Zealand white 61s to 02s, colwed 64s to 64s 6d, Australian 60s to 645. Hemp,—Market quiet, buit steady. New Zealand good fair per ton £25 15s, fair £23. Stock of New Zealand hemp on hand, 120,000 tons. Manila, fair current £25 per ton; nominal quotation for all positions l . The output from Manila for the week was 21,000 baies. Tow in stock at the end of March was 558 tons. Cocksfoot. —There is better demand for cocksfoot seed. Kauri Gum.—Market firm,- but demand only moderate. There was a good yarding of cattle Mid sheep, and, with the exception of tw® pens of small incalf heifers, everything was sold. Weaner steers £1 5s Od to £1 9s, heifers 22s to 275, mixed weaners 20s to 25s 6d, small do. lis 6d, Eft-months steers £3 3s fid to £3 Us, fat xsows £0 12s, bulls £4 7s 6d, store cows £2 15s to £3 10s, forward do. £4 to £4 17s, ewes Bs, lambs 10s 6d, mill do. 3s to fid. At Stratford on Tuesday We had a small yarding, -meeting with good competition.
