ANOTHER TAIHOA TRAIN.

Writes a correspondent of the Wellington Times:—Yet another instance of the need for speeding up was provided to-night, when the 4.20 p.m. train fiom New Plymouth to Hawera was brought to a standstill owing to want oi steam. This puriiciijar train was due at Hawera at 7.48 p.m., and only departed from Turiki (twenty-five miles from Hawera) at "i.2~> p.m.. bavin? taken 21irs t.Vmiii. to run from New Plymouth to Tariki. a distance of twenty-three miles. The engine which brought the 4.5 p.m. slow passenger train from Tlawcra was transferred to the stalled train, and another stall, was made for Hawera. The passengers were in an awkward predion niont—twenty-live miles from their destination and with Iwcnty-three minute.-: left to reach there on schedule twin-.' Your correspondent mid a fellowjpassengei - secured a few sandwiches at the Tariki Hotel, but apparently the other passengers did a freeze and a starve In the carriages in preference to wading across the muddy road.
