A meeting of city hotelkecpcrs to-day decided to increase their tariffs when tlie new hotel employees' award, including a six-days' week, becomes operative. First-class houses will raise the daily charge for accommodation by Is 0(1, and second-class hotels by one shilling. Sl-HPWRKJIITS' DISPUTE.
Wellington, Last Night. The Shipwrights' Union lias applied to add the Union Steamship Co.. the Wellington Harbor Board, E. 1!. liailey and J. liringhis to the parties cited in' their dispute. The Conciliation Commissioner, Mr. llally, decided to exempt the Union Company and the Harbor Board, the former being required to fsi-msli the Court with a declaration that it. is not engaged in the shipbuilding industry, lie granted the application in respect to Bailey aud Bringins. The Union scttret.ary objected to the Commissioner's ruling as affecting the Union Cosnpnny and tlie Harbor Board, and the matter will probably be referred to the Arbitration Court during its hearing of tlie disp-.v.e.
A GENERAL MOVE-UP. Wellington. Last Xigbt. The Wellington Hotel Workers Cnion is asking the private hotelkeepcrs and proprietors of oyster saloons, restaurant and tea-rooms to enter into a fresh agreement relating to wages'.'hours and conditions, thus superseding the old award, which expired some time ago. The demands include a six days' week, as in the case of the licensed hotels, and a general increase of 2i (id to os per wvck in wages. Where board and lodging is not provided, it is asked that the present allowance of l."is weekly be raised to *2s (id.
