TAUPO TOURIST TRAFFIC.
A BIG ROADJNG REQUEST. DEVELOPING TOXGARIRO NATIONAL PARK. Hy Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. A deputation'from the New Zealand Automobile Association waited on the Prime Minister yesterday, urging the completion, of the road between Waimarina and Taupo. It was pointed out that CWOO would cover the cost of the accessary bridges, and the thermal district would be thus made more accessible from other parts of the country. Dr. Newman, M.P., described Taupo r* the beat playground in New Zealand, and said be knew of a iirm prepared to initiate a motor 'bus service for Taupo trallic from Waimarino if the road were completed. Mr. Massey said the Government recognised the importance of the road. He looked forward to improving the Tongarirtt National Park, and hoped the road would soon be formed. This work would be carried out by good-conduct prisoners, while the bridges would be "built by contract. The Hon. A. L. Herdman said that the plans of the bridges were prepared, and he saw no reason why they should not be completed within six months. A start would be made shortly with the Toad formation by prison labor.
