METHODIST CHURCH.

[ A'EW PLYMOUTH CIRCUIT. I; The quarterly meeting of the New j Plymouth Circuit was .held at Fitzroy last night, when, notwithstanding the (Weather, there was a good muster of ollicialsi The Rev. J. W. Burton, superintendent of the circuit, presided. The collections at almost every place [in circuit showed an 'increase on the preceding quarter, so that in spite of extraoidinary expenditure the quarter ended with a small credit balance. Sunday-school reports were considered stu.sfaetory, though some of the schools are in need of additional teachers. Resolution* of sympathy with several members of the church were adopted. Arrangements were made in connectipn with the incoming ministers, the Ttev. A. li. ChappcU, M.A., and the' Rev. C. 11. Olds, 8.A., but regret was -\- pvcHscd that conference had keen unable to appoint a home missionary to the circuit, it being felt that a young man who intended! to ofl'er later for the ministry would find a useful sphere of labor here. It was decided to call a meeting of the Tarious congregations to consider the question of the appointment of""a deaconess in place of Sister Florence, who has left the town.

Reference was made to the early departure of Mr Grayson, one of the oldest members of the Quarter Board, who, with Mrs Grayson, is taking a trip to Hrtgland. The best wishes of the meeting go with them.

Resolutions were heartily anl unanimously adopted, placing on record the esteem and appreciation of the meeting for the character and work of ithe Revs. J. W, Burton, R. J. Uddell, and 11. T. Peat, Sister Florence, and Sir J. R. Sullivan, who are all removing to other districts, The Revs. Burton and Peat suitably and feelinglv replied.

At the conclusion- of the refreshments were provided by ladies of the Fitzroy church, for which tho.v received a cordial vote of thanks.
