ENTERTAINMENTS.
WEST END FORESHORE. The Mayor, >lr G. W. Browne, yesterday received a -communication from Mrs Massey, wife of the Prime Minister, in which that lady has kindly consented to name the doll in the doll's name-guessing' competition to be held at the West End J'oreshore picnic on Monday next. A sealed envelope containing the name was enclosed, and this envelope the Mayor will open at the Theatre Royal on the evening of Easter Monday, when there will be given by Mr Saunders a benefit picture display for the fluids of the West End society. At .the, name time Mr Browne will open a sealed envelope which contains a huipber within a stated limit, and the nearest guess to this number will receive a lady's solid gold wristlet watch and band, the watch being jewelled in live movements. Both guessing competitions will be in full swing during picnic, day. In addition, there will be sheep weight-guessing, bean ami pumpkin guessing, hoop-la, ringlet and disc throws, qunitb, and the famous Five Uncles. Everything is in aid of the town's seaside park. A special feature for the day is the engagement of Mr G. Van Heck's orclilstra.
