MOA SCHOOLS ASSOCIATION.
The usual bi-monthly meeting of the above was held in tlie Inglewood school on Saturday, 4th April. Present: Messrs Thomson and Hood (Inglewood), Egan and Co.dd (Dudley), Stevens (Norfolk), Capper (Kaimata), Baxter (Egmont Village), Simpson (Dudley). The chairman gave a statement of the receipts and expenditure relating to tile seaside picnic. There was a big falling oil in the attendance, due no doubt to the fact that the United Friendly Societies' picnic had been held the previous week, and that the Royal Artillery band was to perform on the day following the picnic. Aotwthstanding these, facts, there was a credit balance of about 13s. A desultory discussion ensued as to the ::ilv.sal/ility of altering the date of the picnic to Anniversary Day, a notice of motion having been 'tabled to that effect. Various opinions were expressed and it was decided to leave the matter for the new Association members to. discuss. Mr. Hood was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for the trouble taken in collecting funds for the picnic prize fund, to which ho duly returned thanks. The paucity of funds for extraordinary calls, such as delegates' expenses, caused the Egmont Village delegate to bring forward the question of increasing the levy on the individual committees. He stated, and it met with the hearty concurrence of all present, that it was useless for the Association to carry on on the present small levy and that it behoved householders to keep an eye on the movement regarding amending the Education Act. He moved, "That the delegates present be asked to bring before their respective committees the ne♦eesity of increasing the contribution to the Association to 7/fi." An amendment to make the levy 5/lapsed for want of a seconder, and the motion declared carried. A circular from the North Taranaki Association asking for support of the proposed conference of Scl,„ol Committees, to be held in New Plymouth in June, was read, and it was decided that it would be best to take final steps regarding the request at the next meeting of the Association on May fltli, as itwas probable the election of School Com- I mittees, which intervened, would alter the personnel of the Association. Regarding the request of the North Taranaki Association as to passing a resolution in favour of keeping the Tarn- ' naki Education district intact by enlarging same so as to include the whole provincial district, the proposal met with the hearty support of all present.
