KAIMATA. (From Our Own Correspondent). The local tennis is now finished'. The men have worked very hard to lay the asphalt before wet weather set 'hi. On Thursday afternoon Mr. Webster (sooie.tary of the tennis club) and -Mrs. Webtiler gave tlie court builders a little afternoon tea in the school plantation. Mr. Cutler, our new head master, unified into the school house on Wednesday, and took Up his position in the school on Friday. There are two or three cases of whooping cough in this district at present, and 1 fear it is spreading rapidly. Tt is sai -1 to bo coming from Waitui as that school is now closed on account of an outbreak. The milk supply at the cheese factory and the creamery is diminishing, am: the cheques aro decreasing, but, best of all, it is the cow-spankers' holiday during the winter months. I am very proud to mention the fact that Arthur Burkhardt, one of our unlets, came first in the 200 yds No. 2 match at the rille. tounvament at Inglewood. Many of Mr. Lewis Old's friends will lie pleased to hear that he is progressing favorably in the New Plymouth Hospital, after his serious accident, caused through u fall from a hovsc.
