BIBLE IN SCHOOLS.
At the Victorian and Tasnianian Methodist Conference recently held in Melbourne, the following resolutions dealing with the Bible in State schools (Juestion were passed:— (1) This conference avows its deliberate conviction Ihat the State can with general advantage undertake only the supervision of non-sectarian Scripture lessons by the teachers, but believes' special advantages will accrue if ministers end church representatives are also allowed opportunity of more direct religious instruction within scnool hours, as in other Australian States, and re;/:'r'N these provisions as a reasonable sol'tlion of the 'vicious education prob-
