CHINESE BANDITS.
REVOLTING CRUELTY. By Cable —Press Association—Copyright Peking, April 3. The sacking of Kuangehow was carried out with appalling ferocity. The "White Wolf" bandits shot, hacked, and burnt an old woman who was believed to have money and tortured her in the most horrible manner. A man escaping from the wall which be had defended was first shot and then pounded to death w'ith bricks.
The brigands looted the treasury and made the crowd scramble for copper coins and notes, shooting anyone who appeared to get more than his fair share. Over a thousand persons were slaughtered, including a magistrate, who was hacked to pieces and his remains soaked in kerosene and burnt. In an adjoining town, where the people imprudently fired two old rusty cannons, the wliol° population, including women and children, were killed.
