BOROUGH COUNCIL.

(From Our Own Correspondent)

At the Borough Council meeting held on Wednesday evening, a report was received from Mr. Palmer re the new dam It was decided that Mr. T. Giles' tender for carting be accepted at Is Od per hour, and W. Julian's tender for carting metal at Is 2d per yard. Tlie Invieta typo of road roller, made by Messrs Aveling and Porter, was selected, and instructions to cable Home for a - machine were given. The Mayor, Mr. Geo. Young, stated his intention of again standing as Mayor for the coining year, and the councillors present congratulated him upon the work accomplisned during the past year, ami wished him every success (luring the com'ing year. The usual honorarium was voted.

Mr. Young thanked the councillors for heir good wishes.

The Moa Dairy Co.'s manager and secretary waited on the Council re carrying drainage to their premises, and after the deputation it was decided that the Mayor and Cr. fiibbs wait on the directors at their next meeting. Mr. Seally was re-appointed foreman, and Messrs Burrows and G. Ward surfacemen.

The question of the bad* state of the footpath in front of the post office was brought up by Cr. Spurdle.—lt was decided to write to tlie postmaster re the same. .

1 am inclined to think that the New Plymouth concsrt talent who intend paying us a visit next Monday are going to get a great reception, and I hope they will gather up a lot of rotes. 5 think the dance is looked forward to, especially as the young ladies are to dance in their tango clothes after the performance. Do they do that in New Plymouth, or is it specially reserved for Inglewood? I hope to send you along some good ''copy" in a day or (wo, and would suggest to those Inglcwood-itcs who borrow the morning paper from their friends to get, the boy to call regularly. They'll soon get the habit.
